My wonderful, amazing, and evil friend Emily invited me to dinner the other night. She was in the mood for noodles and wanted to go to What the Pho!. When you walk in, it’s not super impressive and had some pretty outdated decor. With a name like that, I expected something trendy with red walls and dark furniture. It was a Tuesday night and wasn’t very busy. They did have quite a bit of take out traffic though.
We started out with the Cha Gio, a fried egg roll filled with pork, shrimp, and other goodies. Emily asked for a side of their homemade “fish sauce” (not the fish sauce on the table). They came in an order of four and were delicious! I would definitely suggest asking for the “fish sauce”.
I ordered the Red Curry with Chicken and Emily had the Mi Wonton. My dish was awesome (and spicy)! It came with rice and vegetables and was a good sized portion. I tried a little bit of Emily’s dish, which had BBQ pork, shrimp, and imitation crab. It was pretty good. Not my favorite, but she really liked it. It had these weird little stuffed wontons in it too.
We were a little disappointed that they served the soda in cans (no refills!) and they left the door propped open for some reason. Not the best choice for trying to save money. We were fighting off the mosquitoes throughout the whole meal. The best part was when Emily was trying to kill one with her chopstick. That was priceless!
Overall, the prices were average and the food was good. They are open six days a week (closed Wednesdays?!) from 9am – 8pm. Odd hours too, who gets noodles at 9 in the morning? I’ll probably go back, but only if Emily asks me to go. It’s not going to be one I crave to go back to myself.
